LG Electronics has announced a series of enhanced environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, placing a “circular economy” model at the core of its manufacturing and product lifecycle strategy.
A key initiative is the substantial increase in the use of recycled plastics across its product lines, including televisions, monitors, and home appliances. The company aims to use nearly 600,000 tons of recycled plastic by 2030, significantly reducing virgin plastic consumption and carbon emissions from production.
Furthermore, LG is expanding its global network of “Take-Back and Recycling” programs for end-of-life electronics. It is also investing in technologies to improve recyclability, such as monolithic design for easier disassembly and the use of single-material components.
The company’s ESG report highlights progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its operations and increasing the energy efficiency of its products. Investors and consumers are increasingly viewing such commitments as critical indicators of long-term corporate viability and responsible leadership in the tech industry.
“These initiatives are not just about corporate responsibility; they are integral to our sustainable growth and innovation process,” said an LG spokesperson. The company’s efforts align with broader global trends and regulatory pressures pushing electronics manufacturers toward greater environmental accountability.
